Cowboys News – Cowboys Beat Redskins 18 to 16

It is early in this 2011 NFL season but things are starting to look up for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys now have a record of 2-1 and are coming off a big win over their rival the Washington Redskins.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo proved on Monday Night Football that he is a top NFL quarterback. Playing with a fractured rib he guided the Cowboys late in the 4th quarter into Redskins territory so that place kicker Dan Bailey could kick a 40 yard field goal with 1:52 left putting the Cowboys on top 18 to 16. All the Cowboys point came from field goals as Bailey went a perfect 6 for 6.

Oh how things change quickly in the NFL. Two weeks ago the Cowboys lost their opening game against the New York Jets due to many costly mistakes. It did not take long for football fans to start about talking about how Romo can’t make the big plays when the game is on the line. Since that first week loss, Romo has shown the football world that he is a true leader and can play through tremendous pain. He fractured a rib in the second game against the San Francisco 49ers. He left that game only to return later throwing a 77 yard completion in overtime setting up the wining field goal. In Monday night’s victory, Romo played with a special fitted vest to protect his fractured rib. Throughout the game you could clearly see he was in a great deal of pain; however, he made the necessary throws when needed.

The Cowboys will host the Detroit Lions this Sunday in Arlington. Fans have already started purchasing Cowboys tickets in the hope to watch the Cowboys defeat the impressive undefeated Lions. It is never easy coming off a Monday night games as it makes for a shorter week to prepare for the next opponent. Once thing is for sure over the last two games Romo has shown that he is not afraid to play injured and will do what ever it takes to get the Cowboys a win.
