Overview
The Cowboys-Buccaneers game represented the proverbial two ships passing in the night. First Quarter
Coming off a crushing defeat, the Cowboys could not have planned a better opening quarter to the game. The Bucs opened the game with one first down, only to lose the ball when quarterback Josh Freeman was stripped by Anthony Spencer. The Cowboys took over the ball on their 44 and marched down the field to score on an 8 yard touchdown pass from Tony Romo to Miles Austin. The Bucs responded with a tepid three and out. To their credit, the Bucs offense finally started to produce and went on a drive to score just before the end of the quarter. A 13 yard touchdown pass from Josh Freeman to Dezman Brisco followed by a successful throw to Kellen Winslow on the two point conversion made the score 31-15 heading into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Unfortunately, the Bucs couldn’t keep the momentum up in the fourth quarter. They kept the Cowboys off the scoreboard, but not before the Cowboys burned off big chunks of time driving up and down the field. Neither team ultimately scored and the game finished 31-15, a score that frankly flattered the Buccaneers.
Moving Forward
Not only did the Cowboys take care of their business, but they received good news over the weekend when the New York Giants were upset by the Washington Redskins. The Giants loss put the Cowboys in first place and in control of their destiny. The next two games will decide the Cowboys’ season. As for the Buccaneers, the team is a disaster. Head Coach Morris is set to be fired and knows it. Kolb threw for 242 yards with a 52-yard touchdown pass to LaRod Stephens-Howling to seal the deal in overtime. There wasn’t a whole lot of action in the game as it was tied at 13-13 for quite a while. However, that quickly changed on the last drive when the Dallas Cowboys were marching the ball down the field to get within field goal range with just 6 seconds on the clock. As they were driving down the field the Cowboys were met wit a costly penalty to move the ball back even further for kicker, Dan Bailey. On the kick to win the game Bailey split the uprights on the 49 yard field goal and the game was over. This match-up could soon turn into a rivalry if the Cowboys continue to lose. Garrett played college football for Princeton University and had a short term as a Columbia University player before returning to Princeton. He won the Asa S. Garrett first played as a professional football player with the New Orleans Saints in 1989 and 1990. He then played as the San Antonio Riders quarterback in the World League of American Football. In 1992, he transferred to the Canadian Football League with the Ottawa Rough Riders. He finally made his name with the Dallas Cowboys in 1993 and stayed until 2000 when he transferred and played for the New York Giants for 3 years. In 2004, he served briefly with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before ceasing his professional playing career with the Miami Dolphins.

After retiring as a player under Miami Dolphins, the team hired him as the quarterback coach for two years from 2005-2006.
